Tanith First and Only - Colm Corbec and Oan Mkoll figurines done

Yup. After many hours of work, these two are finally 100% done. The clay took its sweet time, but the paintjob and work on their bases was the hardest bit, a lot of stuff has been redone a couple of times, and all the small details, like the mud on their clothes, and chip damage on their gear, took a lot of hours to get right.

For a slightly more hi-res version, check out this link:

Anyways~. Gonna post some more WIP and detail pictures here later :)

Here's two pictures of the guys with the sides and back, and some details from other viewpoints.
These guys took alot of time, I haven't posted the WIPS yet, but here they are, some of them. They were built from scratch, using wire and tinfoil, alot fo Super Sculpey was used both the soft pink one and the firm grey one. After we baked them, we used some additional green stuff from GW to weld certain parts (such as the cloak, which was built and baked separately). We also used green stuff for sculpting the smallest details such as the Tanith Cap Badge, it was so damn small and Green stuff proved to be the best subtance for sculpting that one.
The cape's "skeleton"

Welding the Cape with Green stuff

The base was made from a "wooden lid" that we bought on our local woodwares store (Beir Bygg), it turned out to be perfect in size and weight, we then drilled and bolted the guys to the base carefully.
The earth on the base was created with the fine mix of putty, earth, sand and stones. It was applied to the base using a small wooden stick.

The screw inserted into the foot of the character, to can't tell here but it's a damn long screw, up to the knee or something I'd say.

The screws, with bolts, going trough the base. These guys won't fall over anytime soon.

The base, you can see the mix of putty and general earth, sand and stones.
Mkoll, just before being sprayed black.

We then sprayed the black, and then started painting, nothing much to say really, paint paint paint using standard techniques such as blending and washing with water mixed paint. We used Forge World's soot powder for sooting down all the metal, just like in the books.
Really early stage of Corbec's face

And even earlier stage on Mkoll's face.

And then they stand finished, as can be seen above.
Currently up on Cool Mini awaiting the Green Light from the staff.

Progress Photos, Tanith F&O - Faces

Lemme see yoaaaar face!

Quick update before we go away for the weekend, here are the Work in Progress shots of Mkoll and Corbec faces, painted. Not done, but getting there.
I believe the dirt and mud filled creases and such is turning out kinda neat, need to maybe lighten them up a  little bit when done.
I'm not really sure if facecamo (tiger striped) will be painted on Mkoll or not, had it on the concept, it's a cool idea, but it might also turn out kinda bad. We'll see.

Kinda old photos btw, at the moment the cloak is almost done. No touching whatsoever on the hair (which will be black, but shaded with different levels of grey later on)

Kinda big picture, so one can see all the little details!

Progress Photos - Tanith First & Only

How do you make a figure standing 30 cm tall just from some wire, aluminum foil, clay and more clay, and then some more clay?
Well, actually, here's how.

Oan Mkoll

We're currently painting them actually, some WIP shots just might show up later.

Selfportrait(s)

There was this self-portrait-day- kinda thing going on yesterday, or today for some of you out there I guess, and seeing we had an school assignment to draw selfportraits we figured we could just as well upload two of' em here.

Who's who eh!? I guess the picture below kinda gives it away, then again, who's who on that pic :P

Starting things

Yeah, this here is our art blog of sorts, where we upload various things that we do, be it 2D or 3D.
In the beginning there's gonna be alot of sculpted figures, seeing that's what we're doing most of the time right now.

Anyway.

This is our "Tanith First & Only Project", which is basically a project based on a series of books written by the great Dan Abnett.
To cut it short, we're gonna try and create characters from his stories from the Warhammer 40 000 universe. This is how it looks at the moment.

Colm Corbec and Oan Mkoll for the ones out there who have actually read the books.
They're spray painted black and nailed to their footing at the moment(but not in these pics), wips will be posted when we begin to paint them for real (soon).

We  also did two concepts for these guys.
